Electro-acupuncture, acupuncture, cupping & lifestyle medicine
About my practice
Hi, I’m Samantha, a Registered Acupuncturist dedicated to helping you move freely, feel better, and reconnect with your body’s natural ability to heal.
My practice focuses on restoring motor function, improving range of motion, and breaking up scar tissue so that we can decrease your pain and get you back to doing what you love. Every treatment is customized to your needs, whether that means using just a few carefully placed needles or a combination of techniques like electro-acupuncture, cupping or soft tissue mobilization. My goal is always the same: to create a calm, restorative space where your body can release tension and begin to heal deeply.
Before each session, I take time to understand your goals, your history, your movement, and how your body feels in the moment. This includes a verbal intake and physical assessments such as range of motion, posture, and gait analysis. This detailed process helps me create a treatment plan that supports your whole self, not just your symptoms.
While pain relief is often the starting point, I’ve also supported patients through a wide range of conditions — from anxiety, insomnia, and digestive issues to hormonal imbalances, fertility preparation, and postpartum recovery. I have a special passion for working with athletes, new mothers, and anyone navigating surgical recovery or injury rehabilitation.

Orthopedic/ Sports/ Electro-Acupuncture
Needles are placed in strategic locations based on muscle testing, gait analysis, postural assessment and palpation. The goal is to restore normal joint range of motion, improve muscle function, decrease pain and shift out of problematic postural holding patterns. Some needles are quickly inserted and removed while others are retained from 5-20 minutes. Dāo Needle Therapy may be used in adjunct to these treatments. See the heading below.
Electro-acupuncture is when there is electricity added to the needles. It can be used to:
* treat any kind of pain
* restore motor inhibition (improve muscle function)
* improve proprioception of joints (help your body know where your joint is in space)
* restore cartilage in knee osteoarthritis https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5040698/
* strongly perfuse blood when there are circulation problems
* speed up nerve healing from peripheral nerve injury or i.e) trigeminal neuralgia
* and more . . .

Traditional Acupuncture
TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Acupuncture has a wide range of therapeutic benefits. Acupuncture has a down-regulating effect to the central nervous system. This means allowing your body to relax, so it can heal. Acupuncture points regulate meridians/ pathways of energy in the body. These points are carefully chosen based on your constitution, symptoms and how your body is presenting.
TCM Acupuncture can help with:
* hormonal regulation/ menstrual pain
* stress & anxiety
* depression
* perimenopause symptoms
* IBS or digestive distress
* general wellness
* and more . . .

Fire & Silicone Cupping
Cupping creates a negative pressure. Unlike massage, which compresses tissues, cupping decompresses them. All forms of cupping lift the skin and superficial fascia, expands the space between tissue layers and increases lymphatic flow. Depending on your case, different cups will be used.
Traditional glass fire cupping will be used if you need an immune system boost due to being on the verge of getting sick or you have a current infection. Fire cupping creates a very strong suction so it a good choice for those who like to feel strong decompression, so it can be used to relieve pain as well.
Silicone cupping can be a wonderful alternative when fire cupping is too intense or when there are smaller body areas to treat. Squeeze-on silicone cups are wonderful for moving the cups quickly around the body; where square-pump action cupping is wonderful for when we need to decompress tightly bound areas of scar tissue.Benefits of cupping:
* Enhances microcirculation and metabolite clearance (lactate removal).
* Reduces delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and perceived muscle fatigue.
* Reduces fascial adhesions/ scar tissue.
* Promotes parasympathetic activation, encouraging relaxation and recovery.

Dāo Needle Therapy
Dāo Needle Therapy is a unique modality that bridges ancient Oriental techniques and modern biomechanical therapies. Dāo Needle Therapy uses biomechanical tests, patient positioning, and a specialized needle to relieve chronic pain and correct postural imbalances by grading and treating ashi points and traditional and fascial meridians. This specialized needle creates a larger wound in the tissue which re-starts the inflammatory process which is beneficial to treat stubborn trigger points and scar tissue. Most patients find this technique more comfortable than dry-needling.

Choosing treatment

Why Taproot?
I named my practice Taproot Acupuncture because a taproot is one of nature’s best examples of how lasting healing begins at the foundation. In plants like the dandelion, the taproot anchors the entire system while storing the nutrients and energy needed for growth, repair, and resilience. In orthopedic and sports acupuncture, we take a similar approach: we focus on the body’s underlying structures—muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and the nervous system—to create conditions where real healing can take place.
Dandelions appear early in spring not because they push harder, but because their taproot has preserved what they need to recover quickly and grow strong. This mirrors what we aim for in treatment. By improving circulation, regulating the nervous system, releasing dysfunctional muscle patterns, and supporting tissue repair, acupuncture helps the body access its own stored capacity for healing. When the “root” systems of the body are functioning well, recovery from injury becomes faster, more efficient, and more stable.
Taproot Acupuncture reflects this integrated philosophy: treating both the foundational physical systems and the subtle energetic patterns that influence how the body heals. My goal is to help your body rebuild from its center—so you can move with strength, recover more fully, and return to the activities you love with confidence and stability.
